Livable Square Footage

Definition of term

Livable square footage is the amount of space in a home used for living and entertaining. Livable square footage includes all finished rooms. The livable square footage does not include unfinished areas like garages, unfinished basements, storage spaces, or attics. To calculate the livable square footage of your home, measure the length and width of each livable space in your home and multiply those numbers. For example, if a room is 10 feet wide and 20 feet long, the livable square footage of that room would be 200 square feet.
